I recently got introduced to Ebay by my husband as he was hunting for Computer parts to upgrade our PC.

Basically ebay is an online auction sight that brings buyers and sellers together.

Now you may be like me and be somewhat sceptical about this method of buying goods, afterall you have to go on a desciption of the goods and if you are lucky a picture.

As I was flicking through the site I realised that this was a way for me to get back into coin collecting.

Ebay allows members to comment on the service that you get from any buyer or seller and I believe this is a good way to check who you are buying from.

The site itself is very comprehensive. There are a wide range of categories. Ebay would advocate that you should bid the highest amount that you are willing to pay, although I have sometimes felt that if a bidder is beaten in the last minute (or the last 10 seconds!!) the previous high bidder should be allowed to up the bid if they wish - afterall the internet can be a slow beast at times.

From my experience so far most people are reputable and have a fast and effiecient service.

Music as a form of social activism dates back for centuries, but rarely has there been a movement as daring, exciting and provocative as homocore, the queer-oriented rock scene, which through its cult following in clubs around the country presents a brazen face to the queer sociopolitical movement.

Journalist David Ciminelli has been immersed in the queer rock scene since the early 1990s as a fan, writer, musician and band manager. His book drops you front and center as Brian Grillo, frontman for Extra Fancy, leaps from the stage at the Viper Room and chases a homophobic heckler up Sunset Boulevard. It takes you backstage as Pansy Division recalls being pelted by coins when they opened for Green Day during their career-making Dookie tour. Ciminelli’s exploration charts the trendy homocore scene from the 1990s to today. Through interviews with scene leaders such as Pansy Division, Bob Mould (Hsker D), Jinx Titanic (Super 8 Cum Shot), I AmLoved, Clint Yeager (Sur) and the Skinjobs, Ciminelli tells the story of using music to promote tolerance and ponders whether pro-gay music is a powerful enough tool of activism to gain mainstream acceptance.

David Ciminelli grew up in Buffalo, New York. After moving to Los Angeles, he served as editor in chief of In Los Angeles magazine and editor of Unzipped, a gig he still has. When we asked him to tell us something cool about himself, he said, “I like pia coladas and getting caught in the rain.” We don’t talk to him anymore.

Ken Knox is a freelance writer whose work has appeared in Instinct, Unzipped, Fab! and Frontiers. He is currently adapting his column “My La-La Life” into a screenplay.

I have been a member of Ebay for a while now and I find it brilliant, it is easy to join, all you need is a bank account and a few minutes to register for an Ebay account, you also have to set up a Paypal account which again only takes a few minutes and both are absolutely free, once you have done this you are up and running for both buying and selling on Ebay.

Auctions or Buy it now

You can either bid on items in the auctions or go to the buy it now section and get the item that you are after straight away, both ways are good, but sometimes in the auction you have to wait days for the listing to end, then again you can watch the item you want to buy in My Ebay section, which is at the top of your ebay home page, you can keep track of all your activites in this section, weather you are buying or selling, also you can log into your paypal account or make a list of your favourite sellers, this section is for your personal information on your ebay activities.

Paying for an item

When you buy an item and pay for it using, Paypal they pay the seller the amount required for you straight away, then they take it from your bank account a few days later, (usually about three days).
Then when you recieve your goods you leave feedback for the seller and they do the same for you, before buying or selling you can check a members feedback to see if it is positive or negitive, this is to show other members who the good Ebayers are.
Selling on Ebay

You can also sell any unwanted items you might have, again this is easy to do, just describe your item, choose what category it goes into and then add a picture of your item and thats your item listed.there is a small fee for this, but is only a few pence. approx 15p per picture added
If you dont recieve your item

Goods not recieved

There is a section where you can go to open a dispute, if you have paid for goods but did not recieve them, then this helps you to get a refund, which gives peace of mind .

Ebay is good for bargains or for those hard to get items, although sometimes you are better of just to buy the item from the shop, as some things are nearly the same price anyway, although this does not happen all the time, you do get bargains very often, I would highly recomend it .

I recently got into buying items on e bay after seeing purchases my mate bought. You can get some nice and different things. E bay is a online bidding website where public or sometimes companies put up items they wish to sell and the members of e bay bid on the items there desirer and the highest price wins, it is disappointing if you lose out I have to say but sometimes it’s for the best if you don’t really have the money to spend. When you have one the item you can pay by the following options Cheque or pay pal. Pay pal is a safe secure method of paying with out having to give out your bank details. You have to put your details on pay pal so they know what card it’s coming from but the seller does not see this. The range of products on e bay is great from designer handbags, Shoes! , Tickets, books, DVD’s. Type the product you wish for in the search box and it’s bound to come up.

Advantages of ebay would be you could find something different, good price

Disadvantages would be getting out bid and it can be additive
